Mission & Vision
At Meet Me in Oberlin, we know it can be difficult to meet new people. We create opportunities for both recent arrivals and long-time community members to gather in casual settings so they can connect with someone new, expand their social circles, and exchange information about the area.
Meetups
Before the pandemic, Meet Me in Oberlin held in-person meetups at a variety of locations in and near Oberlin.
The Founder
Hello! I’d like to take a moment to introduce myself as the person behind Meet Me in Oberlin. My name is Josie and I moved to Oberlin, Ohio in 2019. After moving many times, I know it can be difficult to meet new people. That is why I am passionate about helping people make connections with others.
I started my own business in 2021, offering services to other small businesses that need help with project planning or almost any digital project you can think of.
My personal interests include languages and linguistics, including Portuguese, Spanish, and Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL). I have also lived abroad, which is why I chose to hold meetups for people in the area whose first language is not English (the English as a Second Language, or ESL, meetups).
In my free time, I volunteer for Oberlin Community Services, take nature photographs, and manage Meet Me in Oberlin.
